Lisa Mills is an incredibly gifted singer, guitarist, and songwriter. Born and raised in Mississippi, she is well grounded in her blues based, soulfully delivered original music

Lisa grew up in and around Hattiesburg Mississippi, beginning her singing career in the church that her grandparents actually built. Gospel was her first musical love, and still is deeply embedded in her artistic foundation. Her mother loved Elvis, and her father loved Hank Williams Sr. Mix that in with a few Brenda Lee records, Lisa had quite a diverse rue to develop her early musical education. Her first introduction to blues, was when she went to see the "Blues Brothers" movie, and she then knew what path she was to follow.

While in England, she was heard by Roy Williams, Robert Plant's sound engineer. Mr. Williams afforded her the opportunity to share stages and studios with Robert Plant, Jeff Beck, Andy Fairweather Lowe, Ian Jennings and the Big Town Playboys, and a host of other incredible talents. Robert said," You should all check her out, she has a wonderful voice" during an interview

Lisa will be joined on stage by double base man Ian Jennings whose CV includes live work and record sessions with Carl Perkins, Jeff Beck, Robert Plant, Billy Lee Riley, Champion Jack Dupree, Jools Holland, Lowell Fulsom, Roscoe Gordon, Andy Fairweather Low, Tom Jones, Willie Littlefield, Van Morrison, Lisa Mills, Mick Fleetwood, Paul Rogers, Buffalo Squeeze, Chrissie Hynde, Sophisticated Savage, Jimmy Page, Lulu, Scotty Moore, DJ Fontana, Ronnie Wood, Jimmy Copley, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler……..

LOTTE IN HER OWN WORDS...Due to an over active imagination colliding with a short concentration span, I’ve found my home in song-writing; 3 ½ minutes is perfect, it’s all that’s necessary to express what cannot be said freely in everyday life. The Popular song, in all its glory, is the best art form there is. There are all sorts of words musician’s use to describe themselves when they don’t want to be put in a box, but as Tom Wait’s said when collecting an award for best alternative artist “So I’m alternative am I? …alternative to what?”.

The truth is I’m not sure how best to describe what kind of music I make or what genre I fit into… My Grandfather used to play me old Delta Blues records and I’ve always been strongly attached to this music and in awe of it’s emotional honesty and style, but I didn’t grow up in the deep American south or sell my soul at the crossroads, so I couldn’t pass myself off as a lady of the blues. Country music, in all it’s variety’s, is often all I listen to for weeks and the detail in the lyrics occupies my life, but I can’t sing like Dolly or Johnny, I don’t have the right accent, and I’m not concise enough with my lyrics to be part of that scene.

I truly love British and Irish folk music and am fascinated by how it’s influenced so many genres and yet remains pure in it’s form (the hundred’s of folk festivals still going strong year after year are testament to this). But I’m far too self -indulgent and slack with my guitar practise to be considered a true folkie. I’ve also had a lifelong love affair with rock ‘n roll and the true spirit of it that’s founded on and influences so many types of music, but alas I cannot strut like Mick Jagger, moan like Elvis or wail like Little Richard. I’d love to tell you that I’m doing something totally new and different, and that you’ve never it heard before, but that wouldn’t be true. I like to think I’m part of a long tradition that’s gone before and will continue. I’m interested in telling stories through music, my own and other peoples'; I’m a songwriter who sings. I hope you enjoy my songs, Lotte x
